Today, the weather was just perfect. It was overcast, with a chance of rain. This has been the norm for the entire month that we have been here in Tennesse. So, Bart and I decided to head up to Melodys to mend the fences that have been neglected for some time. We wanted to be able to turn the horses out into the other areas, as they were eating everything in their current pasture down to the nub.
We get there, and there are wild turkeys walking around in full strut! They were so pretty. Brandon has been trying to shoot one for a few week now. I guess they knew that he was no where around, cause there were quite a few out there.
So, we grabbed our tools, and supplies, and headed out to pasture.
I even helped grabbing the heavy stuff. (I am even multi tasking here.)
We sure got a lot done. I had to keep going back and forth for more wood.
It was nice to be outside tho. It is so nice and cool here right now.
Here is one of our "patch jobs" where a tree had fallen and had broken a few boards.
Then there was a clap of thunder, and our fearless horses high tailed it up to the barn. I mean - they were running! They were so chicken when it started to rain. But then again, they were smart to know where they could go to stay dry.
You know me, I enjoyed every minute of it. It started coming down pretty hard, and so Bart and I decided to stand in the barn until the rain passed. It didn't last very long.
Then, we were out finishing the rest of the area. There is still so much to do!
We didn't even know that the girls had come up to see us while we were busy mending fence.
They filled the horses buckets with the hay cubes that they needed, and set them outside their stall doors. That was so sweet!
Bad picture, but we are on our way home from a good days' work.
