Bart got home from California today. Since he was at the airport already, he picked up his friend Art Evans, (who was working at the job while Bart was gone) and decided to have him come for a horse ride today.
Bart has been working with April a lot lately, and she I really coming along nicely. She looks just like her Mama....and she has shed out nice this year - beautiful color.
Bart saddled up a couple of the horses, and Brandon saddled up Dan. Art rode DeeDee and of course Bart rode April. It was perfect weather for a good horse ride today. A little overcast, but not too hot.
They took it nice and easy. Sky and I sat on the tailgate and visited, (and took pictures).
You could see them riding through the trees. (First one is Bart, 2nd is Brandon)
We watched as they came through the creek. They all did fine, and the horses really enjoyed the water. Bart can actually get April to run right through it without hesitating.
It's so nice riding here - peaceful, beautiful, quiet...
I think they rode every inch of the place. I'm sure that Bart was pointing out all of the great things to see here. They rode around all over, and didn't run into any snakes - which is a good thing.
Bart & April 2015
There is a pond in the far end of the property, and they rode around where it is at - it had been really quiet up to this point. Then as they were riding away, it almost sounded like someone turned up the volume. All of the frogs started making noises. They don't make a croaking sound, it's something different. It is really cool.
Fun times!
Brandon & Dan 2015
I think Art enjoyed himself. Brandon always likes to ride. He will ride any of the horses.
It was a nice break from all the hard work that these guys have been doing. Brandon was getting ready to get off - that's why Art has his reins.
While Art and Brandon were visiting, Bart took April on a good run around the place. She really opens up nicely and rides really smooth.
They both came back hot and sweaty. In this picture, it looks like all that running parted Aprils hair!
Bart and Art rode a little more to cool down the horses. I think they really enjoyed themselves.
After an hour or so, they decided to call it a day. Everyone enjoyed their rides, and Sky and I enjoyed our little visit.
These guys are great.
When Brandon got done with Dan, he turned him back lose into the pasture. Dan just followed Art and Bart around for a little while until they were finished too.
All were unsaddled, then did a tick check on all of them. We have been putting tick meds on them, but there are still some of them that latch on, and become extremely BIG. It is disgusting.
Brandon checking Dan one last time. He's good at finding them. The ticks love hot sweaty places - especially private areas! (Like those striped undies of Brandons!) Thankfully the horses let us check, poke and prod all areas. I think they know that we are helping them.
April in her cool shades!
I think this handsome guy had a great time! Until next time....
(Here the guys are chatting again while dinner was cooking).
