We finally made it to the Saddle Creek Stables in Hazen, Arkansas. We got here about 8:00 pm.
It had been raining for the past few days, and everything was really muddy. The guy that we met here was really nice. He met us at the barn, and got everything all lit up.
After showing him the horses health certificates, and negative Coggins reports, each of the horses got their very own stall with fresh wood shavings in each.
We were able to give them fresh water, and get them all bedded down for the night.
April didn't know what to think. She was snorting and getting all worked up. Poor thing - we think that she paced all night because she was boxed in, and wasn't used to it. But she was safe and that was all that we wanted. (When it was time to load back into the trailer the following morning, she was more than glad to get in!)

This was a really nice facility. I was impressed with the compassion of the owner, and the personal service that he rendered to all of us. It was so very muddy that the owner had turned away quite a few peoples horses. But I think that he realized how far we had come. We had to pay extra for the inside accommodations, but it was totally worth it. The guy told us that when we were leaving in the morning (early) not to worry about cleaning out the stalls - that was his job. Woot! Woot! By fat that was the BEST part.
Once we knew that they were in good hands, (the owner lived on site), it started to rain. So we pulled down the roll top door to the stables and shut out the lights.
Now it was time to find a place to stay for ourselves (these people didn't have a place for us to stay on the premises). But there was a Super 8 that he recommended right down the road that gave discounts for people who used his facilities for the horses. So, we checked in there real quick, and then went to have some Mexican food for dinner.
We could have driven thru the night the rest of the way to Nashville, but then we would have arrived in the dark, and we would have had to put the horses into their new barn without any light, new place, etc. We just figured we wouldn't push it. I think this was a smart call.
