Lone Star Bed & Bale - Claude, Texas

It was late when we finally got to the Lone Star Bed & Bale in Claude, Texas. It was the coolest place ever! Everything was secure, so we had to go thru an electric gate to get into the place. That made me feel really good knowing that no one was going to mess with our horses.

As we have never traveled for any length of time with our horses before, (especially state-to-state), this was all new to us.

The guy that we met here was really nice. We were going to just put all of our guys in a huge round pen for the night so that they would all be together.  Everything was all lit up so that we could see what we were doing.

After showing him the horses health certificates, and negative Coggins reports, we were able to turn our guys out.

It was interesting unloading the horses from the trailer. They all had "sea legs" from traveling so long, and they were a bit shaky unloading. It was funny to watch them.

As I said before, it was really late, and the guy told us that places around there would be closing soon, so he helped us get fresh water into buckets that we were able to hang on the fence, and we got all the horses settled. I think it felt really good for them to be able to stretch their legs out.

We were able to sleep right there at the facility. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this! This place was awesome!

We could stay right here, and we could keep an eye on our guys, and we were right there if something came up. Also, the owners lived on the premises as well. The little rooms that we stayed in were so cute! They were modern and decorated western. Right up my alley!

In our room were 2 queen size beds, and there were Southern Magazines to read. I guess we were in the "South" now.

Did I say that this place was cute? This bathroom was adorable. I just loved everything about this place. The walls were painted this turquoise color with a dark stain over it - just like I want at our house. I have been trying to explain it to Bart for awhile, and now he knows exactly what he will be doing when we get home! Yeah for me (not for him)!

This little bathroom sink was all western too. Just loved it!

Anyway, the guy helped us all get settled with horses, and then asked us if we had eaten yet. We told him No - that we wanted to go eat at the famous - Big Texas Steak Ranch. He said, "You better get a move on 'cuz their fixin to close soon."

So off we went!
