New Mexico = the land of Enchantment!
Here, they have regular deer crossing signs, but they also have Elk Crossing signs. So we had to take a picture to show Bryce.
After seeing this sign, we realized that we were actually traveling on the famous Route 66 highway. So far, it looks just like Vegas. Blegh!
Along the way, I would look up on my iPhone which city we were actually in, as there were lots of little towns. I checked the weather in Chester, New Mexico. It said that we could expect rain, but we actually drove right out of the little town before it started. So far the weather has been great. No vehicles issues, and we are traveling on schedule.
Here is one of the Purina dog food mills.
There were trains everywhere in New Mexico....and they were very long.
These double arrows were just stuck in the ground along the highway. It's probably something famous, but we couldn't stop for every little photo op - we would never get to Tennessee.
Here was a plant of some sort - out in the middle of no where. Also, you could tell that we were still in New Mexico 'cause there were signs for moccasin shoes every few miles. I was lookin' for the teepees.
And wouldn't you know it - there is a teepee on the top of that mountain. Only for advertisement though. I learned that Indians don't actually live in teepees a few years back. You will have to ask me about it one of these days....funny story.
Just when you think that you have seen it all, there is a school bus on the top of that mountain. Really? I have no idea what it was here for, as there is no school up there.
Valentine did really well traveling with us. She had all the comforts of home. She would move around a bit here and there, but she mostly just slept. She would come up in the front with us, but she liked her blankets.
New Mexico is full of cool little mountains.
Bart did all of the driving! He was able to conduct business throughout the day. This man amazes me to no end. He would even indulge me if I needed to take pictures out of his window. Or stop to take a break.
Still on Historic Route 66. Now I know where they get the Route 66 size drinks at Sonic. Duh!
Another Elk Crossing sign for Bryce.
We even brought Valentines "babies" so that she would be able to feel comfortable in her travels. She did so good.
Brandon & Sky stayed right behind us. They had no issues with the car and were able to keep up with us the entire way. It was nice to look in the side mirror and see that they were close. It was fun too to call them on the walkie talkies if we saw something cool. Bart tried to make it nice and easy for everyone involved - and I mean everyone - horses, dogs, family, and mostly ME!
Cool other mountain. Really....what are you gonna take pictures of if you can't stop! New Mexico was basically just dessert.
They did have a casino. Hey, I thought that casinos were only allowed in Las Vegas. I guess we aren't getting to far away from home yet.
Did someone say Las Vegas?
This bridge was painted hot pink. We called Sky on the walkie talkie and told her that this was her bridge 'cause she loves pink. She thought it was cool.
Still driving....
