Always Something to Do

It's so beautiful here. There is all kinds of room, not only here at the Nashs,
but everywhere you look.

Bart has been trying to help out around the place fixing/mending a few things here and there. We bought some wood to help fix a few spots in the fence where trees have fallen.

The horses really seem to love it here. They have adapted to the pasture grazing, the weather and the barn really well.

The barn is setup nicely. We really like it. There is a breezeway into the barn, then the corrals are on one side. There is an enclosed part where the horses can get in out of the wind, but they don't like going in there. I think because it is so dark in there. Dan & April don't like it at all, but DeeDee doesn't care. She will go right in there - especially if you have grain for her.

Off of the enclosed part is a short little run for them. They hang out here the most, when they aren't turned out to pasture. We had to buy some panels to enclose part of the area. This part is also covered, so when it rains, they all come back up to the barn, and stand under the cover til the rain stops. They are pretty smart. We are trying to get it all situated, so when we leave, it will already be set up for the Nashs in case they decide to get a horse of their own.

This is just one of the many pastures that the horses can go out into. They just love it. At first, I turned the horses all out into their own pastures, so they could all have their space. But April didn't like it at all. She would run around like crazy working herself all into a sweat. At one point I thought she was going to try and jump the fence! So, I would turn DeeDee out into her own, and then Dan & April together. But now, I just turn them all out together into the different pastures. There is plenty of rom. When they get them all chewed down, then I turn them out into another area. They are awesome lawn mowers!

The house is quite a ways from the barn.
The barn is located at the top of the hill. It's so peaceful here. I really like it when it starts to rain while we are here at the barn. We can just sit in here, and listen to it. It is amazing!

There is dense trees and brush on all sides of the place. You can't see the neighbors next door. Good thing because this guy over here is a jerk!

Here he is again....working on getting and keeping things all clean.
He is absolutely in heaven here.

It took a little bit of effort to get all of the horses arranged and settled into their new surroundings, but it wasn't hard. There is power that goes to the barn that isn't working. That is one of the next things to check into on Bart's list. Melody would like to have a barn party this summer, so Bart is going to see what he can do to make it happen.

Here is Jason's lawnmower. He pulls it behind his excursion to mow the pastures (when they don't have horses around). Well, he broke it. And, Jason will admit that he isn't much of a handyman. So, Bart went with him to Home Depot to rent a welder so that they could fix it. Bart fixed it, then let Jason practice with it, since he had never really welded before.

Fort Granger

Well, today Bart finally had a day off from work, so we decided to go and find the Johnny Cash Museum. Well, the directions that we were given, didn't quite get us to the Museum. We ended up downtown at some kind of little shoppes.

There was a Confederate Soldiers monument in the middle of the round about where the shoppes were.

There were these old cannons in the with it, that were pretty cool.

Bart was checking to see if it was loaded! ha ha. There were 4 of them here.

We were walking along, and I look up. There was a dog on the roof of this house! He had just come out of the window. I guess this is their way of letting him out for some fresh air.

My handsome guy.

Then, we found my new car! This is the one that I want! It was just sitting there waiting for me. The guy didn't leave the keys in it for me tho. I texted a picture of it to the kids, and they came unglued! They said that I couldn't get it cuz we are a FORD family. I asked them if they would make an exception, and they said NO. So, I guess I will have to wait.

After browsing the little shoppes, we decided to drive around and see what more there was to see. We came upon this place - Fort Granger Park.

I guess it was where they battled, and there were all these trenches that you could walk around in.

They were pretty deep, and went on for miles! I could only imagine having to dig all of these out by hand back in the day. Everything as green. We have never seen so many shades of green before.

The birds here are so colorful too. (I can't believe that I am getting excited about shades o green and birds! I guess living in Las Vegas, you just get used to brown everything!)

It wasn't what we planned on doing today, but at least we got to get out and see a few little things. Hopefully we will get to see some better stuff on another weekend.

Lunch Date

First of all, I know that I have been taking a lot of pictures, but I haven't been in any of them. I guess I just get excited, and then I realized that I need to try to take some more pictures with me included. So, bare with me. Let me post a few more pictures, and then I will try to start taking more of me in them.

Anyway, here we are at Lowes. It's one of our "lunch dates". Bart asks me to come and go to lunch with him, and then we end up at Lowe's to get work supplies or other stuff. It is his only free time during the day.

Anyway, we have to take care of our own yard, trees, etc. So, Bart decided that it was time to mow the lawn. We thought about hiring a teenager, but he ended up being too busy. So here we are in the lawn equipment aisle at Lowes. Bart was deciding on which lawnmower and a weed wacker to get.

Our yard isn't all that big. He mowed the back and the front with THIS size lawn mower. The reason I say with THIS size - is cuz what Bart really wanted was THIS size...

This was called a "Bad Boy"! It seems like everyone here has one THIS size! But then again, their yards are HUGE! I could just imagine my kids and Bart altering this thing so soup it up!

The price tag on this "Bad Boy" was HUGE too. We could buy another horse for that amount! (Don't give him any ideas).

It didn't take him long at all to finish both yards. But what I thought was funny - is that the very next day, the neighbors sent their kid out to mow their lawn. I guess they were trying to keep up with the "Jones". All day long that's all you hear around here right now - is lawnmowers going! Oh, and there are No Sprinklers. We get enough rain here, so no need.

At night when we are driving home, we see all of these guys on their riding lawnmowers, mowing their lawns. It doesn't even look like they need to be mowed. I think they just enjoy getting on their riding mowers and driving all around. It does look like fun, and they are fast!

Ours will work for now. We don't have much grass anyway.

Here's to my cute Cabana Boy! Love you Hon for all the hard work that you do around here.

Valentine

Valentine has adapted to Tennessee quite well. She has been doing really good. Bart continues to spoil her when he is home.

But, when I came home today, this is what I found!

Really! Come on Valentine. Every time I leave she gets into my crochet bag. She has her own bed to lay in.

I purposefully tied a knot in the top of the bag to keep her out of it. However, she continues to go IN my crochet bag! When Bart saw this, he just laughed.

This time, she tipped it over and wiggled her way in. I don't know what it is with my crocheting, but she HAS to lay on it, under it, beside it, whatever - as long as she is touching it.

Hey, at least she isn't chewing on it like she usually does.

Even when she is on the couch with me, she has to lay on my project! (She knows I'm talking about her).

This is where she is most of the day anyway. Right next to me! I think she is missing Bryce. Cuz she usually sleeps with him with a heating blanket!

The good ol' life! She is very spoiled.

BNA Airport

Well, here is the reason that we are here in good ol' Tennessee.

There are a total of 6 fuel tanks that all need to be sandblasted and painted by the end of the year. These are located at the BNA Nashville Tennessee airport - about 40 minutes rom where we are staying.

They are currently putting up the scaffolding for the first tank. They will be sandblasting and painting the outside of that one first.

I had to take some stuff to the job site AKA airport. I'm not allowed inside due to security. So, I had to wait outside the gate. Then I saw this really cute guy in this sexy orange work vest and white hard hat....

He looked kind of important. Cuz, he was always on the phone...

Oh, I should have known - it WAS Bart! Silly me!

A Work Truck

Phillipe didn't want to drive a work vehicle all the way from Las Vegas, so Bart and Brandon have been busy trying to find a work truck here in Tennessee that they can use to haul around equipment. Brandon has been very busy looking all over for one. He finally found this one.

So, they went ahead and bought it. It stays at the job site (airport) for now.

I had to deliver some packages for Bart today at the airport. So, I got to look inside and see the new truck. It's pretty nice. It's used, has a little body work that needs to be done (minor), but the inside has really been taken care of.

Brandon wants to buy it from the company at the end of the job, so I teased him today and sent him a picture of me sitting inside "his truck".
