Skunks & the Boonies

We live in Nolensville, Tennessee. It is a quaint little community, and small. It is right outside of Nashville. I guess it is so small and far out in the boonies, that they don't have a regular Fire Department. They call it the "Volunteer" Fire Department. What?! You mean to tell me that if there is a fire, people might "volunteer" to come and put the fire out?

We live in the Ballinger Farms homes. They are rather nice houses - I think. But as we were checking out the house, we noticed that it is equipped with fire sprinklers! (They are the little circle in this picture). We are too far out, so they require the new homes being built to have emergency fire sprinklers built in! Crazy!

Any way, as I was saying we are out in the boonies. We see all kinds of animals (mostly dead on the road). But we have seen some skunks, opossums, moles, and - Bart saw a deer on his way to work.

Weellll, Bart went to work early this morning. I continued to sleep. BUT, it was not in the cards for me today. I woke up to the most AWFUL SMELL in the world. It was the smell of a fresh skunk spray! PeeYouuuuu! I don't know where it was, or who scared it, but it had sprayed somewhere right outside the house, an the smell seeped inside. I woke up so fast! It was gross.

Needless to say, I got dressed quickly and went out for the day. It was unbearable! That's Tennessee for ya :)
