Okay, so last month our Old Hickory Ward had a scout auction. The boy scouts that wanted to go to camp put up something (Some Moms made church bags, etc), or a service for the members to bid on. The highest bidder won. So, as you know, Bart and I are very heavy Scout supporters. So, we put on the auction block 1 hour of horseback riding. The Meek family won the bid.
We have been trying to get with them to obtain their prize for some time, but one time the weather wouldn't cooperate, and the other time DeeDee hurt her leg and we had to go to the vet. So here they are finally getting to ride. This is Ben Meek.
And, this is Katie Meek. She is from Montana. This family was so very fun. I really enjoyed visiting with them and getting to know them, even though they aren't in our Ward any longer.
It was still hot, but it was manageable - it was 6:00pm.
I had them start off in the round pen, as Ben hadn't ridden a horse in a long time. Katie grew up with horses, so she knew her way around. Their adorable boys were taking it all in, waiting for their turn.
They got to movin around the round pen pretty good, so it was time for them to go out into the meadow!
I think that they really enjoyed themselves.
Eli & Asher each got their turns. They did really well, and was even able to ride all by themselves. These kids were so fun. They asked lots of questions, were respectful and helpful. It was so worth it being out there with them. I really enjoyed myself.
I look forward to keeping in touch with this cute family.
