Denim has Died

R.I.P.
Denim 2009 - 2015
It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I ran clear across town in the middle of a rain storm to pick up this little puppy that I had chosen on-line without even meeting her. She was soaking wet & muddy, and she was afraid of everything! Driving home, she climbed out of the box and over to my lap. There she stayed for the entire drive home. I fell in love immediately.

She didn't like to be locked up E V E R! If you put her in a kennel, she would cry, howl, and carry on until you let her out. But, from that very first day, she had a hold of my heart.

We decided, as a family, that it would be best to leave her in Las Vegas, so that she had Cinch to play with, and also where she had room to run!

Bryce called me today and said that Denim was acting weird, she looked really bloated, and was breathing heavy. We thought that maybe it was the heat (110* today), so he brought her inside to see if cooling her down would help. Then, Bryce let me hear thru the phone as to how she was breathing. It was really labored. So Bryce called the vet to get her in - they told him to bring her right away. So, Bryce picked her up and loaded her up in the truck. It  was just down the street. When Bryce got there, he picked her up and took her inside, but when he leaned down to set her on the ground, she died. She was gone that fast!

The veterinarian started CPR, but it was too late. They think that something called "bloat" caused her death. I guess it is common with this breed. Sometimes, it is when they eat, either too much, or too fast, then exert themselves, and it causes bloat. If it isn't treated really quickly it is deadly. In this case it was fatal.

There is nothing that anyone could do, and it was no one's fault. We as animal lovers understand this. It is just hard for a "family member" to leave us.

Denim - you will always hold a special place in our hearts, and I will miss you like crazy. I only wish that I could have been there for you when you needed me most. I Love You & I'm Sorry.
