IT'S ALL FUN AND GAMES.....

Brandon has been wanting to get everyone together to go shooting. He has scheduled a few hunts this year, and wants to be on the top of his game before he goes. So tonight's the night. I went and picked up 4 boxes of shotgun shells, and 2 boxes of clay pigeons. Then Brandon brought his stash as well.

We went over to the Nash's, and prepared to shot in their backyard (which is totally legal here). Brandon got a heavy duty pigeon thrower that has to be hooked up to a battery in order for it to work. This thing looks "wicked", and it holds ALOT of pigeons.

Brandon and Bryce got right into the swing of things. They took turns calling out who would shoot what. Since the pigeon thrower threw out 2 pigeons at a time, they would call High or Low.

Bart took the casual approach at shooting tonight. He just sat in his little chair and shot from there. lol

Brandon and Bryce really did good. Brandon is almost a master shot, and didn't hardly miss any!

Bart finally took on the responsibility of making sure the thrower was loaded at all times.

Here is the pedal that is hooked up to the pigeon thrower, and when you are ready to shoot, you just step on it. The thrower will throw out 2 pigeons at a time. It was so nice not to have to throw them by hand! (But we sure went through the ammo much quicker). Brandon was brushing off his shoulder - being cool - he didn't miss any.

Brandon has really gotten some good use with his custom made ear plugs that I had made for him.

I really enjoyed watching Brandon. He is really a fantastic shot, and would even shoot & hit the ones that others would miss right before they hit the ground.

They even shot at some birds that were daring enough to fly over Brandon's shooting area.

Brandon invited a guy that he works with here in Tennessee. His name is Nick. He had just purchased his shotgun, and hadn't even shot it yet, so this was his first time. He got the hang of it after a little bit.

I thought this was a cool picture with the smoke coming out of the barrel. Brandon even carries a towel in his back pocket to wipe his hands when they get sweaty. (This reminded me of my Dad).

Sky and I observed most of the time because Brandon just wanted to shoot non-stop. However, I did take my turn (no one took my picture), and I actually shot a double. When the pigeon thrower threw out 2 clays, I got them both! Honest!!! I had to show Brandon that I still had it in me. Then I had to take a break cuz the gun was getting heavy (especially with bullets in it)...what movie is that from? lol

...UNTIL SOMEONE GETS HURT!

Yes, it happened. The pigeon thrower was on the tailgate of the truck, and it was loaded with pigeons. Well, one of them was broken, so when the thrower threw out the pigeon, instead of it shooting out and in one piece, it shattered and flung everywhere! Which, Brandon was standing right next to it, and a piece of the pigeon flew right into his eye!

He handled it very well. He just laid down his gun, and walked away, not saying anything. He went over farther in the meadow, and laid down on the ground. I followed him, and made him show me his eye - even though he didn't want to. Luckily for him, it hit his bottom eyelid, and not his eye. Even though it cut it and bruised it immediately, his eye was saved. Not even a scratch! He was very lucky.

Bart took the thrower off of the tailgate of the truck and set it on the ground. He said that it would be much safer that way.  After a couple of minutes, Brandon came back over, and went right back to shooting! He didn't miss - not even once! Amazing!!!

His comment was..."I don't care what happens to anything on my left side, just don't let it happen on the right". Crazy kid!

All n all, it was a pretty fun afternoon. We shot everything that we had. It went by really fast.

Bart of course, had to make fun of Brandon. (I think it is his way of being grateful and relieved that Brandon was okay).

The boys were tired of taking pictures - can you tell? It was hard to get a nice one of us.

Here is what Brandon's eye looked like the next day. It was painful for him yesterday, but he is doing much, much better today.

I don't think that it will affect his looks in any way. Love this Guy!
