Aquarium Dining Adventure

Bryce and I went to the Opry Mills Mall today to look for shoes. Both of us could really use some new ones. He was looking for a particular brand of shoe, and lo and behold, they just don't sell them here in Tennessee.

So, we decided to go to lunch while we were here. (I seems like that's all I did this trip - was feed him!) Anyway, I had never been here before - Aquarium, so we decided to give it a try.

They have a large aquarium at the front entrance that has all salt water fish. It was pretty nice. It is between he restaurant and the gift store.

Then, when you walk in, there is a ginormous aquarium. It is actually 200,000 gallons! Our waiter gave us all the facts about it.

It is 11' deep on the shallow end (on the left), and 16' deep on the other end (on the right). They had 14 sharks, and 6 eel, and the acrylic was 7" thick. There were a lot of schooling fish that were fun to watch. The smallest fish were the angels - which are usually one of the largest in our salt water tank!

On the ceiling they even had fish lights. It looked like you were dining under the water. The lights were a dim blue, and it was really nice inside. They didn't miss any details either. They even had seahorse salt & pepper shakers.

The eels were HUGE! Some of them were just swimmin' around, but then we saw this big fat eel just laying in this crevice.

It was shaped kind of cool too. You could walk all the way around it to see all of the fish.

These stingray were really fun to watch too. They would swim around, and then would go up to the very top of the tank. I don't know if they were getting a breath, but when they were up there, they would blow bubbles out their butt. It was kinda funny - like a water fart!

This was the largest shark in there. His name was Sampson (we think), and he was a stingray shark. We had never seen one of these before.

This fat fish would just stay in one place for a long time. Then he would swim around in a small circle, and then just sit there again.

I really enjoyed it. You could see other patrons thru the glass eating on the other side. The water was that clear.

I liked these schooling fish. They were large and impressive swimming all around the tank.

I think this fish is called a Parrot Fish (not sure), but he had this huge bump on his forehead. Looked like he had run into the side one too many times! lol

Dinner was kinda "pricey", but I guess it was all about the "experience". But, I have to say that the food was worth it, and was really delicious. The company was the best I could have had, . Bryce had steak, and I had shrimp scampi.

Then, on our way out, a scuba diver was cleaning the aquarium up front. I was fun to watch him.

Well, we are off to yet another mall to see if we can find Bryce's shoes!
