Welcome to the 21st Century Kay

Although this won't seem really exciting to anyone (other than myself), it is an important day in history. My Best Friend in the Whole Wide World has learned how to use the computer, the internet, email and Facebook! She actually sent me an email, and I am so very excited to be able to keep in touch with her better. Woo Hoo. KAY - welcome to the 21st Century!

Sky's First Time

We went bowling again tonight. We met Brandon and Sky there this time. When these 2 guys get together, there is always some kind of competition. Bart told Brandon where it shows how fast your ball is recorded on the screen. So, these 2 started trying to throw the balls as hard as they could. Their scores weren't very good, but they sure enjoyed themselves!

Then there was me, trying to get a strike, and no matter how hard I tried, I ended up getting all spares! It became a standing joke.

I found out tonight, that Sky had never bowled! What?! Well, that had to change! So, I convinced her to give it a try. She didn't want to - saying that her nails were too long, but I told her to at least try it once. So, Brandon went to help her. She basically put the ball on the floor, and pushed it with her foot. She got all the way back to the seats, and then we waited, and waited, and waited until it finally made it to the pins.

She ended up getting 7 pins! Slow but steady, she did great!

Look at the speed of her ball! I wasn't exaggerating.

As you can tell by our scores - we didn't do very well, but we were having a blast!

For the beginning of the next game, Bart and I did the same thing. We both got spares!

Police Activity in the Early Hours

After our attempted break in the other night, Bryce and a neighbor sat in the entryway for most of the night, "waiting" for them to come back. After several hours, the neighbor went home, and then Bryce went into his room and kept watch from his window. At about 3:00 am, he heard sirens, and saw lights. He got up and started checking it out. The police were out in full force with K-9 units, looking in the neighbors back yards, and having them open their garages. I guess there were 3 black guys that the police were tracking. Someone had shot one of them during an attempted break in, and he took off running. Come to find out, he hid under one of our neighbors cars. They finally found him, and took him to the hospital, where he died the next day. Unfortunately, there are still 2 out lose, that they didn't find. But, hopefully since their "friend" died, they will think otherwise about trying to break into more houses. (I think Bryce ended up staying up for 32 hours straight trying to catch the guys).

Mushrooms & Flowers

Since we have had so much rain and moisture here, these mushrooms are growing all over.

So, the other night Bart went up to the barn to feed on his way home from work, and he brought me home a "prize". This mushroom. Who can say that their man has ever brought her home huge mushrooms before? I know it sounds weird, but I thought that it was sweet that he was thinking of me.

Then last night while we were giving Charity another horse lesson, he walks over to me at the fence and gives me these adorable little yellow flowers. What a nice guy!

Tonight, Bart found this 'bad boy' growing, while they were out shooting. It's really cool to see all of these different things growing here in Tennessee.

Bowling

Only one thing it can mean - that I am wearing these sexy shoes. BOWLING! Bart and I found a little hole in the wall bowling place. It was pretty nice, clean, and not very busy.

There were these guys that were next to us, and they were really into it. They had "mole skin" that they were cutting, and putting on their fingers before they started bowling. They had contraptions on their hands, elbows, and even had a special sock on part of the front of their shoes, to help them slide while they bowled. They were fun to watch.

Everything was electronic and animated. So it made it nice and east, not stressful, and fun to watch our scores.

Of course Bart started out with getting a strike right off the bat!

Neither one of us is very good, but it was fun to get out and do something different, and it's not too far from our house. (so we might have to do it more often).

I'm not consistent either, my balls are all over the place!

But, I sure enjoyed this view! Tee Hee

For our first game, we both broke 100! That hasn't happened for me in a long time!

Then, during our 2nd game, we were tied at one point! I thought that was cool.

Glancing over at the "senior bowlers" - these were what their balls looked like. They even had special inserts made for their balls. They were serious. There ended up being about 5 guys that got together to bowl. They used 2 lanes, and they looked like they were having a great time.

Another feature on the electronic board was they recorded how fast you threw the ball. It says my name, but that meant that I was the next bowler to bowl...anyway, look at the bottom right corner. It says 20.05 - that is how fast Bart threw his ball!

Now, look at my speed! What a difference. When I tried to throw it really hard, it would go straight into the gutter.

We both broke a 100 for our 2nd game, too. I know it is sad, but this is the best that I have bowled in a long time. Maybe with practice, we will get better! It really didn't matter. It was so fun being together.

Hoodlems Attempted Break In

It just hasn't been our year! Tonight, someone attempted to break into our house in Las Vegas. There have been several break-ins in the area the last few weeks, and they believe that there are 2 black kids wearing backpacks that have been going around doing the damage. Our friends the Linville's - they broke into their home while they weren't home, and cleaned them completely out!

Bryce noticed that there was broken wood near the locks on the front door. Something was put by the locks and they tried to wedge it open. I think that they were looking to try to wedge the double doors open.

They damaged the lock where the handle is...

And broke the wood piece that covers the middle seam of the doors. We are lucky that most of our front doors are metal! (I'm sure they didn't' know this.)

Also, Bart had really secured our doors sometime ago by screwing in some "L" brackets to the door and the floor, just in case someone tried to do this! You can tell that they were really trying their hardest to get in!

I am so very grateful that they weren't able to get in. If they really wanted to, they could have broken the window, but anyway, I am just grateful that they didn't get in, and that Bryce was safe! We also have an alarm on the house - but who knows in this day and age.

Bryce called the Police, and they came out, took pictures, and made a report, but didn't take any fingerprints.

So, our thoughts are this...

1. Since they weren't able to get in, will they just forget it, and move on to another home -OR-
2. Since the placed was locked down really well, do they think that there is something really valuable in here?

Mirror, Mirror

Tonight after work as we were on our way to go feed...we were traveling down this road - Split Log Road. Just like we always do. Well, you see the yellow line? You see how narrow this road is?

There is a mailbox on the right, and further down, there is a sign on the left. Well, we were traveling down this road last night, and there was a lady coming up the road driving a Ford F150 truck.
She crossed over the yellow line right where that sign is, and side swiped our truck!

Both of the mirrors on the drivers side - on hers & ours smacked! The chrome on Bart's truck popped off and landed in the street, and the mirror popped out as well. But, the wires that control the mirror were still holding onto the dangling mirror. So, thankfully it didn't break. No one was hurt! And, the damage was limited to the mirrors.

Unfortunately for this lady, her mirror fell out and smashed on the ground, the top piece on her mirror popped off too, and when her mirror folded in, it scratched the drivers side door.

Bart was able to pop his mirror back in, and replace the chrome piece, and everything worked! We truly lucked out! The Police were called, and he didn't cite either one of the drivers. He said that we were basically responsible for repairing our own trucks. Lucky for us - it was already done!

This is a road well traveled, but these little "country roads" have a whole new meaning! We are almost paranoid to drive down here now!
