Round Hay Bale

I think that we finally got April's "Dew Poisoning" under control. But in order to keep it that way, we have had to do some work. We had to mow the meadow down as far as we could, so that the grass isn't touching anything on April. So, that means that we had to come up with an alternative to feeding her. We decided to get a round bale of hay to supplement her feed, since she can't graze in the meadow. So, we got on Craigslist and found this guy who has round bales. He was only about 45 minutes from our house, so we jumped in the truck and headed that way.

The guy told us that the bales in the barn had been kept out of the rain, and didn't' have any mold. So, we got one of those.

It was pretty slick to see how this little tractor worked. Bryce would have loved it!

The guy just put it right in the back of our truck with no problems at all. Bart then strapped it down, and off we went.

We got to the barn, and Bart took some tie down straps, and placed them at the base of the wood posts in the barn, then took the other ends and hooked it to the bail. He pulled the truck out, and voila! the bale slipped right out of the truck, and landed in the barn. Easy peesy! It's amazing how creative Bart can get when he doesn't have a tractor here.
