Parker decided that he was going to have a bunch of his friends over for a bonfire, and to roast marshmallows. He texted me and asked if him and his friends could also ride the horses. So, Bart and I went up and saddled all of them up.
There were quite a few kids that showed up. He had both girls and guys there. And, everyone wanted a turn. So we had them all ride in the smaller meadow by the house. We didn't make them ride in the round pen, even though some of them had never ridden before.
This one kid didn't feel comfortable in a big open area, and had never ridden before, so I worked with him in the round pen. He did great. He only rode for a short while, and then he wanted to join his friends.
We were all watching the kids ride, and then Parker decided to show off for his girlfriend. He was riding April. Well, what he didn't know is that she is fast! He took off running, and realized that he couldn't control her. She took off for the gate, and right before she got there, Parker pulled the reins really hard and turned her, but he didn't do it quick enough, and he ended up riding her right into the fence! Parker didn't get bucked off, and April wasn't really hurt. She had a place on her shoulder where the hair was missing where she hit the wood from the fence, but everyone was ok.
After that, the other guys brought the horses back to us, and then the girls didn't want to ride. At least it was one of the Nash's kids that screwed up, and not one of the guests. Jason and Melody were right there when it happened, and knew that it was his fault.
