Road Trip Express

So, after months of looking for a new horse, Bart finally settled on "The One". The only thing is, is that this horse is in IOWA! What?! And, as you know, Bart only has a limited amount of time that he can take off of work. Soooo, We were off and running. This is the quickest trip in history!

We left at night, and traveled thru Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois and finally to Iowa. This bridge was in St. Louis, Missouri. It would have been awesome to see in the daylight, but we were on a mission. We drove all night, strait through. It took us 11 hours just to get there. We took turns driving. Then pulled over, and I crawled in the back of the truck to take a nap, and Bart slept in the front seat. We slept for 3 hours, then got up and drove to where this horse was. Insane - I tell ya.

Iowa is very flaaaaaaatttt. It is so very open, too. I didn't really like it. But, we found the place ok. After talking to Elaine Anderson (Skip's Owner), there was tornado that came through this area, and wiped out all of their large trees. It took the roof off of one of their barns, and blew out all of the windows on their house. She had a ariel view of their place before and after the tornado. It was crazy!

Bart took a look at the horse. He is HUGE. Like a horse on steroids! He was a bit intimidating to me, but not to Bart. He liked him right away. His barn name is "Skip's Obvious Clue". This couple has owned him since he was a baby, but have used him for breeding only. After running him around in the round pen, and seeing his temperament, Bart decided that he wanted him. (After driving all that way - he better have!) lol

Then, when we got ready to load him in the trailer, he didn't want to load.

Come to find out, he had only been in a trailer once. So, it was quite a challenge to get him in there.

We ended up having to sedate him and coax him in. Even manipulating him at times. It was quite the chore. It took us 2 1/2 hours until we finally got him in there. They were so patient. I was very tired, irritable and just wanted to go to bed.

Then, we finally got on the road. The colors on the trees were finally changing, and they were really pretty to see.

As you can see though, we wanted to get home, so the pictures are pretty good even though we were flying through town.

Red....

Yellows and Oranges....

This is what it is all about. FALL! I am in love!

On the way back, we saw Bryan Road. So, we have a Bryce street in TN, and now Bryan Road in Missouri. Now all we need is Brandon???
